Lewis, in Local Scoop Magazine, Article

We just got our copy of the Local Scoop Magazine of the Northern Neck of Virginia.  Lewis Trimble was one of the three young entrepreneurs featured it the June issue of this magazine.  There is a full page Photo of Lewis in the shop.  After two stress filled days trying to organize our shop so that photos could be taken in a neat space.  So where did they pick to photograph Lewis?  Not in one area that we had staged.....But the photo and article was really great thank you Local scoop!

"Claude Lalanne was born in Paris in 1924 and studied architecture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. Claude and her husband, François-Xavier Lalanne (1927 - 2008), known collectively as Les Lalanne, developed a style that defines inventive, poetic and surrealist sculpture."

Both Claude and  Francois-Xavier delighted in nature and took their inspirations from natural things that they loved. Claude Lalanne was asked to design this outdoor set for the De Witt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum in Williamsburg, VA( in the 1980's) part of the Williamsburg foundation, founded by John D. Rockafeller.

Claude met her husband  François-Xavier 1n 1952 at that time he had concentrated on Painting.  They both concentrated on scultures for the next 50 years.  She related more to the plant world and he took his inspirations for the animal world. Althought citizens of France.  Their art took hold of the American mind.

Les Lalannes  sheep made an appearance at Miami's 83-acre Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in 2010.
